About

Our goal is to share information and opinions with wine industry professionals and wine enthusiasts about the wines produced in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region. Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and other countries produces some wonderful wines that are often priced at an incredible value. There are also grapes unique to the region which enable wine drinkers to taste something other than the usual grapes found in Italy, France, Germany, California and Australia.

In the blog, we will feature wine reviews and tasting, discussions about winemakers and vineyards, interviews, information on where to buy wine from this region, news about events and festivals, and much more.

If you would like to submit a review or information about a wine, vineyard, festival, tasting, publication, etc., please contact us! Also, if you would like to advertise on this blog, please contact us.

The site was started by Barry Kolodkin. He was primarily a beer drinker until he visited Romania and Bulgaria in 1994 and began to appreciate the local wine. Barry is by no means a 'wine expert' but rather a wine enthusiast who has lived in Romania and Ukraine and traveled throughout the region while exploring new tastes.
